SSB Gives Back

 
Alzheimer’s

Though those with Alzheimer’s might forget us, we, as a society, must remember them”.  Alzheimer’s is a type of brain disorder that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. It is a gradually progressive condition.

This year the Social Security Board joined with VI Alzheimer’s Association in painting the town purple. “In raising awareness about Alzheimer’s, we pave the way for a brighter future.

Teachers

    Teachers are beacons of light. They illuminate the minds and hearts of the next generation, and no one could truly ever repay them for their sacrifices and hard work.   

   The Social Security Board is happy to donate to the Teachers’ Union of the BVI. To the BVI Teacher’s Union keep supporting the Teachers of the Virgin Islands as they build the leaders of tomorrow. 

Breast Cancer

    October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In 2020, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer and 685 000 deaths globally. Roughly half of all breast cancers occur in women with no specific risk factors other than sex and age.

    This year the BVI Social Security Board was happy to participate in “Paint the Town Pink” to help raise awareness about the disease. As the 2023 theme states “Nothing is Impossible When We Fight Together.”

 

Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how your body metabolizes sugar. It can lead to serious health problems if left untreated and it is estimated that about 1 in 10 people are affected by the condition worldwide.

The Social Security Board would like to encourage the people of the Virgin Islands to be mindful of their lifestyles and embrace healthier habits. The Board would like to publicly thank the BVI Diabetes Association for their hard work in raising awareness and promoting healthy living.
