Social Security Board Earns ISSA Certificate of Merit in São Paulo, Brazil

The Virgin Islands Social Security Board (SSB) has been recognized with a Certificate of Merit by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) at the Regional Social Security Forum for the Americas (RSSF Americas), held in São Paulo, Brazil, from 25 to 27 March 2026.

The RSSF Americas is the largest and most significant social security event in the region, bringing together leaders, policymakers and technical experts from ISSA member institutions across the Americas. The Forum provides a key platform for peer learning, collaboration and the exchange of innovative practices aimed at strengthening social security systems.

The ISSA Certificate of Merit was awarded for the SSB’s submission to the 2026 ISSA Good Practice Award for the Americas, which highlighted the Board’s innovative approach to communication and public engagement through its 2024 “Secure Your Tomorrow” campaign. This achievement marks the second time the Social Security Board has earned international recognition from the ISSA for excellence in this capacity.

In addition to receiving the award, Mrs. Norma Benjamin delivered a presentation to Forum participants outlining the objectives, execution and outcomes of the “Secure Your Tomorrow” campaign. She shared practical insights on audience engagement, strategic messaging and measurable results, contributing to regional discussions on the effectiveness of communication in encouraging participation and strengthening public confidence in social security systems.

The Social Security Board’s participation and recognition at RSSF Americas 2026 reflects a continued commitment to international best practices, regional knowledge-sharing, and institutional excellence. By earning a second ISSA Certificate of Merit and contributing meaningfully to dialogue on innovation, leadership and sustainability, the Board reaffirmed its role as a progressive institution dedicated to improving social protection and service delivery for the people of the Virgin Islands.

Representing the Social Security Board at the Forum were Director Ms. Lorie Freeman, Chairman of the Board Mr. Glenroy Forbes, Board Member Ms. Maya Barry, and Mrs. Norma Benjamin, Manager of Health Services and Referrals (NHI).
